PREPARATION FOR stays during HURRICANE SEASON:

If you have bookings coming up for the summer months, it is time to plan ahead. Do not wait until last minute and do not wait until during your stay to scramble.

In the event of a MAJOR hurricane:

  • the Dog Ranch unfortunately DOES NOT have the resources to accommodate dogs for overnight boarding

  • if a major storm comes our way, you WILL be required to have an alternate plan (yes, this means potentially returning to get your dog or having family or friend pick them up for you to look after them). If you have a stay falling over hurricane season, it is important to have a back up plan in case a hurricane heads our way.

While I would love to be able to keep dogs while you remain on vacation or flee the storm yourself, unfortunately in addition to myself I also have animals I need to plan ahead for, including horses. Due to the high probability of losing power during a major storm -- this also means no water (keep in mind I have horses that need to drink -- so to accommodate multiple additional dogs is not something I am willing to attempt take on or ‘just wing it.’).

Beyond the resources to care for dogs, if I need to leave I do not have a large enough vehicle to transport multiple dogs. Multiple dogs also makes it difficult to find accommodations and transport necessary belongings. Again, please have your plan in place.

In previous years during major hurricane events, many people who were on vacation returned home to get their homes ready and collected their dogs while others had family or friends pick up their four-legged companions. Please make sure you plan ahead and have a plan in place. IF a MAJOR hurricane comes our way I will keep dogs staying with me as long as possible, but there comes a time I need to prepare myself, my home, and my animals as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I appreciate everyone's understanding.
