How to prepare for the initial lesson in your home — please make sure BEFore my arrival:
Your puppy or dog is secured by utilizing a playpen or gate, ideally crated before each lesson unless instructed otherwise. If isolation is not possible, please let me know in advance to receive leashing/management instructions. I WOULD RECOMMEND SECURING YOUR PUPPY OR DOG 15-20 MINUTES IN ADVANCE OF YOUR LESSON TIME. If you have multiple dogs you want to work (or not), the second dog must be confined while the other is working. Confining your puppy or dog is also recommended for virtual lessons.
You have HIGH VALUE easy to eat training treats prepared (chicken, cheese, hotdogs, etc; if your dog is not picky most soft treats/kibbles are acceptable). If your lesson falls shortly before/after a meal time, PLEASE DO NOT FEED. WE WILL GO THROUGH A LOT OF FOOD!
You have an appropriate collar, leash, harness (NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES UNLESS INSTRUCTED SO). Four or six foot leash recommended.
You do not excessively exercise or attempt to "tire out" the puppy or dog before the lesson
If you or your dog is sick, please contact me immediately
Dog trainer reserves the right to terminate sessions for dogs who show extreme aggression towards people or other dogs. Please be sure to disclose any aggressive tendencies that your dog may have prior to scheduling a session.
After the initial consultation, if you choose to continue with lessons; lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will still result in being charged for the lesson. Please understand I only commit to as many clients as I can take on to be fully invested in the training process with you. No showing or cancelling a lesson last minute takes the spot of someone else currently training or someone on the waitlist.
continuing lessons after the initial consult:
After the initial consultation, I typically advise taking the next few days to see how the adjustments in your management and training treat you so you have a better idea of what you may want moving forward. If you’d like to continue with lessons, you can text me 262-689-4428 to let me know and we can get additional lessons on the schedule. Please keep in mind, lesson packages must be used within six (6) months from the date of purchase. *Lessons may also be used virtually if needed.
Lessons in public spaces:
outdoor lessons — please make sure upon your arrival:
Your puppy or dog is secured on leash with a non-slip harness or collar. Please have them in the “tools" you generally train with. If you are unsure, ask. I ask that you do not allow your puppy or dog to drag you around the property but it is OK to go to a designated spot to potty before the lesson. Please also do not allow your puppy or dog to engage with humans, including myself unless instructed to do so.
You have HIGH VALUE easy to eat training treats prepared (chicken, cheese, hotdogs, etc; if your dog is not picky most soft treats are acceptable). If your lesson falls shortly before/after a meal time, PLEASE DO NOT FEED. WE WILL GO THROUGH A LOT OF FOOD! Training vests or treat pouches are helpful.
NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES unless instructed otherwise. Four or six foot leash recommended.

You may bring water or a water bowl, if you would like me to provide please let me know in advance so I can have water set up for your dog.
